Butchart Blossom’s in the Bay

Nelson racer Matt Butchart attended the 48th Annual Blossoms’ Championship held in Hawkes bay last weekend. But his weekend didn’t get off to a great start, when he blew up his "race engine" during practice in the lead up to the event.
Butchart was racing KZ2 machine in the Open class and was then forced to use his "tried old" spare engine for the rest of the weekend. He and the crew weren't 100% sure if the engine was going to be up to job so all fingers were crossed.
Luckily for him the engine held up and he then went on to win two of the eight races and finished 2nd in the other six heats. Butchart’s consistent results seen him win the overall Open Class title for 2015.
He said “The racing was tough, i'm racing in the Open class this weekend and you are up against the twin engine karts, so I had my work cut out"
Club mate Bo Hill also made the journey north to the bay to race in the Cadet Rok class. This was Hill’s first time racing in the North Island and he had a couple of strong results on day one but struggled on the second day to finish the weekend 12th.
Both will be looking to shine at their home track in Appleby in a few weeks’ time for the Nelson Ferris Trophy night race held on the 19th of September, Racing kicks of from 1pm running through to 10pm.
