Fisher Shows Pace In Mainland Series

Fisher Shows Pace In Mainland Series

Nelson's Jarod Fisher Only Just Misses Out On The Overall Win In The JR Class By One Point.

The 2013 Mainland Series Got Under Way At The Christchurch Memorial Trophy Meeting Held Last Weekend. Five Of Our Local Drivers, Josh Bradley, Jarod Fisher, Hannah Ross, Liam Lotter And Kevin Barker Traveled South To Try And Take On Some Of The Best Drivers In The South Island At Kartsport Canterbury For Round 1.

For A Few Of Our Drivers This Was Their First Time At The Christchurch Track And Kart Set-up Proved To Be Tough To Get On Top Of, But For Jarod Fisher In The Junior Restricted Class This Was Not The Case, And He Had Race Pace Right From The Start Of The Weekend. He Took A Race Win In Heat 1, And Then Again In Heat 4. Fisher Finished 2nd To Lewis Ball In Each Of The Other Two Heats To The Lead On Points Going Into The Final. Fisher And Ball Had A Great Battle In The Final Swapping For The Lead Just About Every Lap And It Was Fast Toe To Toe Racing, In The End It Was Ball That Took The Win, With Fisher Right Behind Him. Fisher Came Away With The Weekend 2nd Overall Which Is A Great Way To Start Is Mainland Series Campaign.

Josh Bradley In The Cadet Class And Hannah Ross In Junior Yamaha Both Found It Tough Getting Used To The Challenging Christchurch Circuit But They Did A Fantastic Job For Their First Time There, And They Both Learn't Alot From The Weekend And Can Take Alot Away From It. Bradley Finished Inside The Top 10 In 9th And Ross Finished Up In 12th.

The Two Other Nelson Drivers Also Struggled A Wee Bit, Liam Lotter In The Junior Class Also Finished Up 10th Overall And Kevin Barker In The Rotax Light Class Ended Up Down In 17th.

The Next Round(s) Of The Mainland Series Comes To Nelson, And Blenheim With The Sunbelt Championship Series Held Over Queens Birthday Weekend On The 2nd And 3rd Of June.
