Nelson Drivers Crowd Twilight Champions

Nelson Drivers Crowd Twilight Champions

Nelson's Matt Butchart Takes A Lucky Overall Win As Chris Cox Blows His Engine

The Third And Finally Round Of The Marlborough Twilight Series Was A Nail Biter As The Championship Came To A Close. Once Again The Racing As Hard And Fast As All Drivers Tried To Close The Gap On Their Rivals And Get Themselves Onto The Podium.

Matt Butchart Was Looking Like He Was Going To Take Second In The Rotax Light Overall Standings Behind Christchurch's Chris Cox Until Cox Brew His Engine Thru Turn One On Heat Number Two. This Was A Bit Of A Shame As The Two Battled Hard Together Over The Three Rounds, But Mean't That Butchart Would Take The Overall Win And Cox Dropping To 4th In The Points. Olivia Yardley And Tim Smith Both From Christchurch Fulled The Rest Of The Overall Podium. Andrew Goodman Took 8th After Missing The First Round Of The Series, And Jarod Brown Had Strong Run In Round Three And Managed To Grab A Top 10 Overall Position With Kevin Barker Having Engine Dramas Once Again To Take 11th Overall. Teneil Rasmussen Only Did One Of The Three Rounds And Ended Up 17th.

Another Well Deserved Win Was Nelson's Liam Lotter Taking A Clean Sweep In Round Three And Taking The Overall Crown In The Formula Junior Class With Daniel Bugler Of Marlborough 2nd And Clarke McFadizan Of Nelson 3rd. Bugler Had The Overall Lead Going Into The Third Round But Was Forced To Run His Yamaha Engine As His Rotax Max Is In The North Island For Another Racing Series.

Andrew Stratford Wrapped Up The Series With A Overall Win In The Open Class, Despite Having A Few Off Track Moments In Round Three. Josh Bradley In The Cadet Class Took Out 2nd For Round Three But Ended Up 3rd Overall Behind Marlborough Drivers William Exton And Sam Bugler For The Series. The Rotax Heavy Class As Another Good Class To Watch As Battles Continued Thru-out The Series But It Was Marlborough's Taylor Forbes That Took Out The Overall Win Even After Missing The First Round Of The Series. Nelson's Alistair McFadzien Came Home In 6th After Three Rounds.
