Teneill Rasmussen takes out both Championships in the Rotax Light Class.

The heat was turned up last weekend at the 2015 Kartsport Nelson Club championships.

The day might have been dark and cloudy with rain threating but the action on track was nothing but hot. There was a lot on the line as this was also the last round of the Lonestar Nelson club points championship.

Teneill Rasmussen of Richmond has been trying for nine years to win the club champs and finally caught a break over the weekend when she drove her way to the front of the Rotax Light field ahead of Ben Stilborn and Leighton Stanton. Rasmussen also took out the win for the points championship.

Girl power seemed to be strong as the two Coakley sisters, Pip and Meg, battled for first place in the Vortex Mini Rok class but it was Pip who took the win. Louise Gridley rounded out an all-girl podium for third.

It was all smiles in the Gridley household as Brendon, father of Louise, also took home some silverware when he won the Rotax Max Heavy class ahead of newly-crowned South Island champion Matt Butchart and Kevin Barker. Bryce Borlase won the club points championship after his fourth place finish over the weekend.

Kart 95 Josh Bradley leads Bo Hill to win the Cadet Rok Class

Jarod Fisher easily won the Junior Rotax Club title after he won all five races, but it was Brodie Downing who collected the most points throughout the year and took the top step ahead of Fisher and Brandon Dove in third.

Brightwater's Josh Bradley has added another two championships to his belt as took out both the title and points championship at the weekend making it his third year straight. Bo Hill was second and new driver Ollie Workman rounded out the podium.

The Open class was won by Simon Hennah who took out both titles ahead of Adam Gibson and Hayden Mortimer.
